The ecological resotration of a forested area in Santa Clara a Velha, Odemira (Portugal) was done between 9/12/2022 and 31/12/2022 in 4 different plots. 27750 trees were plantes, consisting of 7 species: Pinus pinea (5500), Arbutus unedo (15500), Olea europaea (2500), Quercus suber (1250), Ceratonia siliqua (2500), Ficus carica (250) and Prunus dulcis (250). All species are native to the region and are adapted to the local conditions. 10 participants were present during the proffesional planting that was carried out. The planting aims to enhance biodiversity, have a positive effect on soils and provide resources to the owner (from fruits and pines). Furthermore, this plantation aims to ensure native species to thrive in an area that has been invaded by Eucalyptus spp. This sets an example of good practices that will be upscaled in the future.
